National Grid

Gas System Control Room

SOLUTION WFC was selected to design a Control, Operations and Training Center for National Grid in Melville, NY. The centerpiece of this initiative is the new state-of-the-art Gas Control Center.  This highly advanced facility monitors and controls the gas grid for Long Island, New York City and Upstate New York and will also serve as a backup Control Center for New England. The platform is based on a SCADA system (supervisory control and data acquisition) that operates with coded signals over communication channels to provide control of remote equipment and large-scale processes at multiple sites, over large distances across the entire gas network. The primary interface includes an impressive rear projection LED map board over 70 feet in length and customized operator consoles with sit-stand functionality and other fatigue mitigation measures.
